We are seeking incidental music for use in our upcoming feature film, CRIMPS.  We are especially interested in Oregon-based artists, as this movie has originated entirely in the Pacific Northwest region.  If you are a musician or band that is interested in auditioning your music for possible inclusion in the film, please read the information below before submitting your material.  For more information on the CRIMPS project, click HERE.

1.  The recorded material we are seeking will be used as what is called "incidental" music.  Incidental music refers to music that is part of a scene itself -- e.g. playing on a radio, stereo system, jukebox, etc. -- usually heard in the background of the scene.  This is as opposed to the movie's "score", which is music specifically composed or chosen to directly enhance the mood of a scene.  There are a number of scenes in CRIMPS that will most likely make use of incidental music.  Specifically, these scenes take place in a bar, a coffee shop, and a restaurant.

2.  There will be NO UPFRONT PAY OR ROYALTIES PAID for the use of your music.  If your intent is to make money from such an arrangement, please do not submit your material.  If your music is selected you will receive screen credit, an invitation to the cast/crew screening and a DVD copy of the finished movie.  You will also gain exposure for yourself and your music, which will vary depending on the distribution arrangement negotiated for the film, if any.

3.  You will be required to sign an agreement allowing 2001 Productions to synchronize the chosen piece(s) to the film, as well as permitting its use and the use of your name(s) in any promotional material associated with the film, for perpetuity.  You, however, will retain all rights to your music.  2001 Productions will NOT have the right to resell your music as part of a compilation (or "soundtrack") album, or use it in any other form not directly associated with the CRIMPS project.  In addition, your agreement with 2001 Productions will be non-exclusive; i.e., you will retain the right to use your music in any other manner or for any other purpose as you see fit.  All compositions must be original and the property of the submitter, or covers of material whose copyright has lapsed into the public domain.

4.  All material selected WILL be edited for time (though NOT for content).  It is unlikely that an entire piece will be used in a given scene, as most scenes are relatively short.  The decision as to which portion(s) of a song are used and where belongs solely to the film makers.

5.  There is no guarantee, implied or otherwise, that any music submitted for consideration will be selected for use in the film.

6.  CRIMPS is a horror movie, and thus contains coarse language, violence, nudity, the undead, and other such material inappropriate for children and the easily offended.  If you find this type of content objectionable, please do not submit your music.

7.  Please use the following guidelines to ensure that any music you submit is appropriate for the requirements of the film:  The bar scenes are set in a small tavern in a fishing town.  It is a popular watering hole for a variety of local denizens, so the types of music heard there are most likely rock or blues.  The coffee shop is small, locally owned (not Starbucks), with a friendly atmosphere.  The music there is unobtrusive: light jazz or folk, maybe.  The restaurant has a classy, elegant atmosphere.  Music heard there would likely be classical, possibly ethnic, or warm jazz.

8.  Music you'd like us to consider should be submitted on a compact disc that will play on a standard CD player.  It does not have to be professionally produced, but the recording(s) should be of good quality and ready for use.  We will not be re-recording any material.  Alternatively, if your material is available online you may direct us to the site.  E-mail links to mick@2001productions.com.

9.  Please limit your submission to (a) song(s) you specifically think is/are appropriate for one or more of the settings described above.  Imagine yourself in that place while listening to your music and ask yourself, does it fit?  If the CD you submit contains multiple tracks, please designate which ones you would like considered.  We do not have time to listen to an entire album's worth of material.

10.  Submissions will not be returned unless they are accompanied by a self-addressed, postage-paid mailer.  Please make certain your identifying and contact information are clearly marked on the CD; e-mail address is preferred.  You will not be contacted unless your material is selected.  The time line for the selection process is indeterminate.  Our intention is to complete the movie by spring of 2010.
